Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Law, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto stated that the General Elections Commission (KPU) will determine the national vote recapitulation on March 20.

Tjahjanto conveyed this statement at the ministry's office here on Sunday in response to a reporter's question on KPU being late in meeting the national recapitulation result deadline on March 18.

"It is according to the plan and law, which is 35 days after the General Elections, which is on March 20, 2024," he clarified.

Tjahjanto did not mention KPU's challenges in completing the national vote recapitulation.

Meanwhile, the media crew also sought information from the minister about any other plan or scheme in case the KPU is late in meeting the March 20 target.

He ensured that the vote recapitulation would be completed tomorrow, and the conditions in society would remain conducive.

However, the process is still ongoing. So far, the KPU has determined the vote recapitulation results of 34 out of the 38 provinces in Indonesia.

The remaining four provinces are West Java, Papua, Highland Papua, and Maluku.

The 2024 General Elections were held to elect the president and vice president, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) at the provincial, city, and district levels.

As per KPU Regulation Number 3 of 2022, the national vote recapitulation for the elections has been scheduled from February 15 to March 20.
