"Our team accepted the decision taken at the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the election dispute and congratulated the Prabowo-Gibran pair on this decision," Mahfud said at a press conference on Monday.
He expressed the hope that the pair would bring improvement to Indonesia over the next five years.
"Good luck to them and we must take care of this country very well," he added.
On Monday, MK rejected all petitions submitted by Ganjar-Mahfud regarding the result of the 2024 presidential election.
"We rejected the petitioner's exception in its entirety," the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo, said while reading the verdict.
The Constitutional Court, in its conclusion, stated that Ganjar-Mahfud's petition was legally groundless in its entirety. Regarding the decision, three Constitutional Judges submitted dissenting opinions — Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, and Arief Hidayat.
The Ganjar-Mahfud lawsuit was registered as Case Number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024 with five petitums submitted:
1. Grant the applicant's request in its entirety.
2. Cancel KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the Results of the Determination of the General Election of the President and Vice President, Members of the DPR, DPD, Provincial DPRD, and District/City DPRD Nationally in the 2024 General Election dated March 20, 2024, as far as the General Election of the President and Vice President in 2024.
3. Disqualify Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as candidate pairs for the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential General Election, as declared in KPU Decree Number 1632 concerning Determination of Candidate Pairs for the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential General Election dated November 13, 2023, and KPU Decree Number 1644 concerning Determination of the Serial Number of Candidate Pairs for the 2024 General Election for President and Vice President dated November 14, 2023.
4. Order the KPU to conduct a re-vote for the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election between candidate pair number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin skandar and candidate pair number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD at all polling stations throughout Indonesia no later than June 26, 2024.
5. Order the KPU to implement the decision.
