Uno said that he is still awaiting an update on whether President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will proceed with the plan.
The minister mentioned that the government will soon hold the first cabinet meeting in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), currently under development in East Kalimantan.
"We are prepared for the inaugural cabinet session, which is scheduled to take place in IKN within the next few weeks," he stated in Jakarta on Friday.
However, Uno did not disclose whether the cabinet meeting would occur before or after Indonesia’s Independence Day national ceremony, set to be held for the first time in Nusantara on August 17.
"However, I can guarantee that this meeting process will not impede IKN’s preparations for the August 17 national ceremony," he told reporters.
Earlier, Heru Budi Hartono, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, announced that President Jokowi would commence working from Indonesia’s future capital city on July 28.
"On July 28, the president is scheduled to inaugurate a toll road and inspect IKN," he remarked on July 24.
Hartono noted that the president's office had been coordinating with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing to equip Jokowi's office in Nusantara with all requisite furniture, such as desks, lamps, and chairs.
He did not give details on whether Jokowi would permanently run the administration from Nusantara or commute to Jakarta.
The Presidential Secretariat has also continued to work to ensure optimum preparedness for the commemoration of Independence Day, which will be marked by national ceremonies held in Nusantara and Jakarta.
