Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), is collaborating with various parties in the aviation sector to improve service and understanding for passengers with disabilities.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation, Cecep Kurniawan, noted in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that his side had disseminated information on regulations regarding services for passengers with disabilities with related stakeholders in the aviation sector.

"Through this outreach, we create a uniform understanding and improvements in the implementation of service standards in the field, so that we can create a disability-friendly environment for flight operations services in Indonesia," Kurniawan remarked.

He noted that the service standards for passengers with disabilities ensure the availability of adequate facilities and increase understanding for on-field officers.

"In this way, passengers with disabilities can have independence and have the same opportunities as other passengers to use air transportation," he explained.

He appealed to Air Transport Business Entities (BUAU) and airport operators to provide appropriate facilities as well as train services in addition to increasing the readiness of on-field officers to provide optimal service to passengers with disabilities.

He emphasized that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation is committed to improving services for passengers with special needs in air transportation modes in order to create an inclusive, independent, and equal environment, so that they have the same opportunities as other passengers.

"Through synergy, coordination, and collaboration, it is hoped that friendly services will be created for all aviation service users, including those with disabilities," Cecep stated.

The dissemination of information on regulations related to services for passengers with disabilities with related stakeholders in the aviation sector presented resource persons comprising Director of Air Transport Putu Eka Cahyadhi, Chair of the National Committee for Disabilities Dante Rigmalia, and Director of Health Surveillance and Quarantine at the Ministry of Health Achmad Farchanny Tri Adryanto.
