Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said on Tuesday that Indonesia has been consistent in making Islamic economic and financial policies a part of its national development strategy.

"In the context of global Islamic economy and finance development, Indonesia has received acknowledgments, one of which is Indonesia is deemed consistent in making Islamic economic and financial policies a part of national development strategy," he added.

Amin made the statement at the opening of the Banten Ramadan Halal Festival in Tangerang district, Banten, which was followed on the YouTube channel of the Vice President's Secretariat.

He said that the strategy is essential for sustainable and equitable national development.

"The challenge of development is not just about achieving the highest economic growth, but ensuring that the growth is able to support the community down to the lowest levels," he expounded.

To this end, he underlined, there is a big task to continue welfare development that has a real impact on the community and increases Indonesia's contribution to global development, especially through the Islamic economic and financial sectors.

"In the future, sustainable economic and financial development that is contributive nationally must continue to be encouraged, including by disseminating information on policies and programs at the regional level, so that literacy and community participation increases," he said.

He welcomed all positive efforts made by regional governments and the regional committees for Islamic economy and finance (KDEKS) in advancing Islamic economy and finance.

"Through this Ramadan festival, I hope there will be concrete results, especially in increasing the contribution of the halal industry from Banten to the world," he said.

He further said that in responding to development challenges and advancing the Islamic economy and finance up to the global level, Indonesia must continue to bolster its role as a key player in the global trade of halal products.
