Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi stated here on Thursday that cybersecurity implementation in Indonesia can create opportunities in the business sector.

“To respond to challenges, holistic implementation of cybersecurity is needed,” he stressed.

He explained that cybersecurity can provide protection from the threats of data breach and theft.

Hence, stakeholders would be able to provide confidence in the digital ecosystem that has been built and continue to improve so as to increase investment opportunities.

Moreover, cybersecurity is deemed able to help users have a stronger defense system that enables them to tackle the threats of attacks in future.

To this end, Setiadi emphasized the importance of the role of human resources in the field of cybersecurity.

“The presence of competent cybersecurity talents is crucial. Moreover, the world is currently facing a shortage of cybersecurity human resources,” he remarked.

He further noted that the shortage of human resources in the field of cybersecurity globally reached four million people in 2023.

Hence, to address this matter, the Indonesian government is endeavoring to continually improve cybersecurity talents, especially in the fields of application security development, cloud computing security, and identity and access management.

The minister also pushed for the creation of cybersecurity talents not only to fulfill domestic needs but also requirements outside the country.

Furthermore, adaptation, innovation, and governance as well as cooperation with the private sector continue to be improved.

This is done to identify risks, so that the government and stakeholders can implement strategies to prevent cyber threats against the public and national security.

He remarked that optimal cybersecurity would provide legal certainty and protect the rights of the community.

“Apart from human resources, the governance of cybersecurity and digital ecosystem is needed to maximize the growth of the digital economy in Indonesia,” he remarked.
