Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is pushing for the digitalization of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to level up their business, starting from promotion to sales.

"Kadin is involved in supporting our MSMEs to no longer use obsolete technology to carry out promotion but to enter the digital market," deputy chairperson for regional autonomy development at Kadin, Sarman Simanjorang, said here on Thursday.

He noted that digitalization can open new opportunities that can change many aspects of life, especially in developing countries like Indonesia.

Digitalization is also expected to support the target of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of helping 30 million MSMEs enter the digital ecosystem by 2025.

Kadin, he said, is actively involved in promoting the transition of MSMEs from conventional sales and promotion to digital marketing.

He further said he believes that this would not only support market access for MSMEs, but also encourage the younger generation to get involved in doing business in a more modern way.

"This is also an attraction to our young people so that they no longer have to worry about promoting with various digital facilities and infrastructure that can reach the wider community," he added.

Simanjorang underscored that Kadin is also collaborating with several industries to increase workers' digital skills.

Kadin is seeking to bolster the digital economy by focusing on increasing MSMEs' knowledge through digitalization training and digital information platform development.

Kadin presented a road map for realizing the 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision to President Joko Widodo, which highlights the importance of developing digital infrastructure, among other things.

He noted that by developing extensive digital infrastructure, Kadin hopes to ensure fast and affordable Internet access across Indonesia, including in remote areas.
"We know that there are almost 60 million MSMEs across Indonesia and they are located in regions and we want them to be technologically literate in various aspects," he said.
