Rosyidi underlined that public and private schools have the same goal of advancing the nation therefore they need to receive the same treatment.
Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) reminded the government to pay equal attention to public schools and private schools, including in meeting teacher shortages.

PGRI Chairperson Unifah Rosyidi in Semarang, Central Java, on Sunday, asked for teachers of private schools who got employed as teachers with a contract-based government employee (PPPK) status to be assigned to teach in their respective schools of origin.

She conveyed the statement while opening the Provincial Work Conference V of Central Java PGRI at the PGRI Semarang University. The conference involved 1,511 participants from various regions who participated in the event offline and online.

Rosyidi underlined that public and private schools have the same goal of advancing the nation therefore they need to receive the same treatment.

"We want the state to pay great attention to private schools too because they also aim to promote education, and also not to leave behind contract-based teachers in public schools," she said.

She highlighted that there should be no teachers who are contracted for years, but then their contracts terminated midway due to changes in regulations.

"In essence, PGRI continues to strive for the certainty of protection for teachers' status," she stressed.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Central Java PGRI, Muhidi, underscored that PGRI has been striving for the rights of teachers, including teachers' allowance and professional development.

"We continue to make efforts to make PGRI a strong professional organization," he said.

He also called on teachers who are members of PGRI not to only be proud of having a large number of members, but also to be able to translate the organization's solidarity and togetherness into something more productive.
