We will continue to encourage countries to work together to meet the SDGs.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 10th World Water Forum (WWF) will become a platform for countries to learn about Indonesia's success in meeting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an official said on Monday.
Tri Tharyat, Director General of Multilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the achievement of SDG targets exceeded 60 percent in Indonesia as of 2023, compared to 12 percent globally.
"Therefore, many countries want to learn from Indonesia on how to achieve the SDG target in the midst of the various crises we are facing," he told a press conference on the 10th WWF in Jakarta.
He said that many countries are eager to learn how Indonesia, despite facing the COVID-19 pandemic's multi-sectoral crises and recent global uncertainty, managed to fulfill its national SDG targets.
The goal of meeting the SDGs should not burden each country alone but should be realized through productive cooperation at the international level, he added.
"There must be close and unconditional cooperation so that all countries, especially developing countries, can get back on track in achieving the SDG target," Tharyat said, adding that he was worried that the progress made in achieving the target will be far from expectations.
"However, there are still six years ahead, and we will continue to encourage countries to work together to meet the SDGs," he said.
At the 10th WWF in Bali, scheduled for May 18–25, Indonesia will showcase a number of projects and share experiences related to water management challenges.
Indonesia expects the forum to result in several cooperations and agreements that will be implemented.
