"We hope that this forum can bring significant results that can be used as a reference for governments to find solutions (in water management)," said Agus, who is popularly known as AHY, on Sunday.
He said that as the host of the forum, Indonesia plays an important role in providing a platform for stakeholders to discuss various global issues related to water management.
AHY also expressed hope that the forum could produce a stronger global commitment to overcoming challenges in water resources management, encourage more effective and sustainable action, and strengthen intergovernmental cooperation.
"We know that many regions in the world experience water scarcity," AHY said. "On the other hand, the human population continues to increase, and industrial needs for water are also increasing, while availability is limited."
He emphasized that Indonesia considers water security to be crucial, just like food security.
The 10th WWF, scheduled for May 18–25 in Bali, is held with the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity." It delves into sub-themes like water security and prosperity, disaster risk reduction and management, and sustainable water financing.
The international forum will be attended by stakeholders in water resources, including representatives from governments, parliaments, and institutions, as well as politicians, academics, civil society members, and business players.
