Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) stated on Monday (May 20) that the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), being held on May 18-25 in Nusa Dua, Bali, has so far run in an orderly and peaceful manner.

BNPT Deputy for Prevention, Protection, and Deradicalization, Major General Roedy Widodo, stated that they have strengthened intelligence and surveillance efforts as well as cyber patrol.

Regarding the cyber patrol, the agency continues to monitor social media posts, as they are often used for disseminating fake news and disinformation that may negatively affect the WWF goals, he remarked.

In securing the event, the BNPT said that it actively coordinates with its counterparts from related parties, including the military, police, State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), and ministries.

The Indonesian Navy reported earlier that it deployed seven naval ships to secure the Straits of Bali and Lombok, Bali Sea, and Indian Ocean during the 10th WWF.

The naval ships include KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992, KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata-331, KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai-332, KRI Ahmad Yani-351, KRI Sultan Hasanuddin-366, KRI Layang-635, and KRI Marlin-877.

The ships belong to the VVIP Joint Integrated Security Command's (Kogabpadpam's) maritime task force. To secure the event, themed "Water for Shared Prosperity," the navy dispatched three thousand personnel.

Meanwhile, in his message published on the forum's website, President Joko Widodo highlighted the importance of collaboration among nations to promote an efficient and integrated management of water resources.

He emphasized several agenda items that need to be prioritized: water conservation efforts; availability of clean water and sanitation; food and energy security; as well as mitigation of natural disasters, such as floods and droughts.
