This is above the average spending of ordinary tourists.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that based on its survey, his ministry has pegged the average expenditure of delegates attending the 10th World Water Forum at Rp38.8 million (US$2,427) per visit.

The 10th World Water Forum was held in Bali from May 18–25, 2024.

"How much is the expenditure? Rp38.8 million or US$2,427. This is above the average spending of ordinary tourists," he highlighted at "The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno" in Jakarta on Monday.

The delegates' expenses were dominated by accommodation expenses and participation fees, followed by food and drink expenses and domestic flight fares to several other destinations, he informed.

The minister noted that international delegates stayed in Indonesia longer, namely eight days. Their visit was longer compared to Indonesian delegates, who stayed in Bali for seven days, he added.

He also said that the delegates will return to visit Bali and will recommend it as a tourist and business destination to their colleagues and family.

"The World Water Forum did not only boost the economy but also promoted the local wisdom and culture, our water management at the international stage," he added.

He said that the event also had a positive impact on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Based on the ministry's survey, MSMEs located within a 1.4-kilometer radius of the World Water Forum venue experienced around a 21–50 percent increase in their revenue.

The event also had a positive impact on the employment sector by generating jobs for 10,500 people.

"National economic activities increased by 0.374 percent during World Water Forum and the total reached Rp1.38 trillion (around US$85.14 million) and employment was around 10,500 people," Uno informed. (INE)
