Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy V of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Rumadi Ahmad stated that Bitung City, North Sulawesi, is ready to host the 2024 Human Rights Festival on July 29-31, 2024.

"The North Sulawesi provincial government and the Bitung city government are ready to host the 2024 Human Rights Festival, and they fully support this activity," Ahmad noted in an official statement received here on Friday.

To ensure the readiness of the 2024 Human Rights Festival, the KSP, the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), and the International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID) held an audience with the North Sulawesi and the Bitung regional governments.

Ahmad echoed the North Sulawesi provincial government's commitment to fully support the implementation of the festival.

This commitment is realized by promoting the festival and involving young people from 15 districts and cities in North Sulawesi.

Ahmad explained that Bitung City was selected to host the festival this year as it has met various aspects, ranging from security, tolerance, and religious harmony.

He expressed hope that the 2024 Human Rights Festival would be more focused on involving the local community's participation.

In addition, through the festival, Bitung and Eastern Indonesian residents are expected to understand human rights terms and values.

"We hope that this year's Human Rights Festival will contribute to the enforcement of human rights in Indonesia," he remarked.

The Human Rights Festival is an annual event to promote and disseminate insights about the enforcement and promotion of human rights in Indonesia.

This year, the event is held with the theme of "Advancing Democracy, Fulfilling Human Rights, and Strengthening Community Participation in State Responsibility, from Regional to National."
