During a visit to the office of Kimura Rattan in Osaka, Japan, on Thursday, Sambuaga remarked that the Japanese company has been a loyal customer of Indonesia's rattan for decades.
He appreciated Kimura Rattan for being consistent in using Indonesia's rattan as raw materials for 49 years.
"This proves that Indonesia's rattan is of high quality and in demand in international markets," he noted in a statement on Friday.
Sambuaga expressed belief that Kimura Rattan's imports of Indonesia's rattan have positively contributed to the harmonious trade relations fostered between Indonesia and Japan.
The value of Kimura Rattan's imports from Indonesia has shown a steady increase, rising from US$2.11 million in the period October 2020 to September 2021 to US$2.33 million in the most recent recording period.
He emphasized that Indonesia's Ministry of Trade had committed to supporting and facilitating the exports of high-quality rattan products to Japan.
In this regard, he remarked that the ministry's Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Osaka will always be ready to help promote and enhance products and find solutions to issues that might arise.
"We hope that the well-fostered cooperation can be taken to the next level," he concluded. "ITPC Osaka is always ready to help explore potential cooperation schemes."
