Director of Basic Necessities and Important Goods of the ministry, Bambang Wisnubroto, stated that discussions regarding the increase in MinyaKita's MRP had been carried out eight times with related ministries and institutions as well as business actors.
"The MRP increase had indeed been fixed to be increased. Eight studies have been discussed with ministries and institutions, and a public hearing has also been held," Wisnubroto stated at the virtual Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, Monday.
Furthermore, Wisnubroto remarked that draft regulations related to MRP have currently been formulated for further harmonization.
"Currently, we are in the process of waiting for the harmonization application to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Hence, in the near future, new regulations regarding MRP for cooking oil will be issued," he revealed.
Wisnubroto stated that in the new regulation, the government will no longer require producers to carry out domestic market obligation (DMO) for bulk oil.

According to Wisnubroto, the DMO will only apply to the MinyaKita program. Hence, the Ministry of Trade called on regional authorities to conduct checks and inspections to anticipate speculative actions that will restrain the sale of cooking oil.
"We ask that you carry out inspections of the market to anticipate speculative actions that will hold back sales of cooking oil, especially MinyaKita while waiting for regulations to be issued," Wisnubroto stated.
Earlier, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan remarked that his side proposed the MRP for people's cooking oil or MinyaKita to be increased to Rp15,700 per liter.
The minister stated when met in Bandung, West Java, Friday (June 28), that his side was currently awaiting a revision of the Minister of Trade Regulations regarding the increase in MinyaKita's MRP of Rp1,700 from the earlier price of Rp14 thousand per liter.
"Yes, we are waiting for the Minister of Trade Regulation. Meanwhile, I ask the Director General of the Ministry of Trade to relax the price of Rp15,700 per liter," the minister remarked.
According to Hasan, the price is likely to increase in the not-too-distant future after the results of the Minister of Trade Regulation proposed by his side are completed.
