Jakarta (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) agreed to form a task force to resolve and investigate differences in data on imported goods.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Hasan explained that the task force is being formed to address the issue of discrepancies in data between Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and exporting countries.

"We want to find the solution. The Trade Ministry and Kadin, along with other possible parties will solve this," he affirmed.

Hasan met with Kadin Chairman Arsjad Rasjid to address alleged differences in import data between those held by BPS and exporting countries.

Giving an example, Hasan said that data recorded at BPS amounting to US$100 million could be listed at US$300 million by the exporting country.

Hence, he said, the two parties agreed to form a task force to learn more about the gap in data differences.

"Because of this matter, associations also have different data," he remarked.

The minister noted that the task force will also conduct field checks to review the distribution of illegally imported goods in the domestic market.

Currently, his ministry is formulating a plan to form the task force.

"The plan is still being formulated. When finished, I will issue a decree," Hasan remarked.

Rasjid expressed his support for the formation of a task force.

"This is a form of collaboration between the government and entrepreneurs. We are not blaming each other but jointly looking for solutions," he said.

He underscored that the formation of a task force is also necessary to explore differences in import data, especially since it involves several sectors.

"We gladly welcome the proposal from Minister Hasan as a solution to the current problem," Rasjid added.
