"The 2024 FGJS has recorded a total transaction value of Rp12 trillion and surpassed our earlier target," APPBI's Jakarta branch and 2024 FJGS organizing committee head, Mualim Wijoyo, said here on Wednesday.
He informed that this year's transaction value was 4 percent higher compared to Rp11.5 trillion (US$708.62 million) in the previous FGJS edition in 2023.
Some factors responsible for the high transaction value were the up to 70-percent discounts offered by participating merchants, midnight sale promotions at three major shopping malls in Jakarta, as well as health checks, a badminton tournament, and prize draws, he explained.
The organizing committee chief added that APPBI's Jakarta branch collaborated with state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia as the principal banking sponsor to provide easy payment options to customers.
Wijoyo said he is optimistic that FGJS will become a mainstay agenda to spur economic activities in Jakarta and help it achieve global city status.
Meanwhile, the head of Jakarta's Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, commended APPBI's success in organizing the FGJS.
"The strength of Jakarta's economy is supported by (increasing) purchasing power and various activities organized by shopping mall managements to help Jakarta achieve global city status," she added.
The 2024 Jakarta Great Sale Festival was held with the theme "Let's Shopping, Now Jakarta Global City" from June 4 to July 10, 2024. The agenda, organized in concurrence with Jakarta's 497th anniversary, was supported by 94 shopping malls across Jakarta.
