Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Indonesia will collaborate with the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) to carry out a comprehensive study on sports coaching to improve sports achievements internationally.

"This comprehensive study is important because the purpose of building sports is to sustain the Red and White, which is the same as the Lemhannas' goal to maintain national resilience," NOC chair Raja Sapta Oktohari said here on Monday.

He made the statement to the media after a meeting with the acting governor of Lemhannas, Eko Margiyono, at the NOC Office in Jakarta.

NOC Indonesia and Lemhannas will form a team to conduct a deeper study on sports coaching as Indonesia is participating in many sports events, both as a host and a competitor, he informed.

The joint team will also include other related elements to make the study more extensive and ensure it is carried out based on quantitative parameters.

"So currently, it is about the Paris Olympics, then the (next) Olympics will be held in America, and so on, hence, we will be able to see the progress (through the results of the study)," he said.

Oktohari said that the study of sports coaching will not only target athletes, but also determine the potential of new athletes, coaches, and sports administrators.

To reach these groups, he said, his side needs greater legitimacy for conducting the study, so it has established communication and cooperation with Lemhannas.

"Our main interest is to maintain the Red and White. I think this is in line with the goals of the Indonesian NOC and Lemhannas," he added.

Meanwhile, Margiyono said that he supports sports competitions because if Indonesian athletes win, the national anthem Indonesia Raya will be played and the Red and White flag will be raised on the world stage.

Therefore, his side wants to collaborate in the study and, at the same time, instill national values in athletes, sports administrators, and all related parties.

"The point is that we want our sports to be more advanced," he said.
