Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin called for the accurate and timely distribution of alms (zakat), especially for programs related to poverty alleviation.

"Alms distribution must be right on target and bring benefits based on accurate database, especially on programs related to poverty alleviation," he remarked while opening the 10th National Conference of the Zakat Forum at the Vice Presidential Palace on Tuesday.

He stated that in addition to alleviating poverty, the use of alms should help the recipients be in a position to pay their own alms in the future.

"Alms distribution should be continued to encourage the recipients to be more productive and provide sustainable benefits for the community through economic empowerment programs for the people, such as providing capital for micro and small businesses," he emphasized.

Amin also deemed it important to ensure that alms distribution is conducted by an integrated Alms Management Organization (OPZ) with an accurate database.

"Use socio-economic registration data (regsosek) for a more targeted alms distribution," Amin stated.

The vice president also instructed to maintain synergy and alignment of national alms management with the national development agenda to ensure sustainability.

"All stakeholders should strengthen synergy and collaboration in preparing a national alms management strategy," Amin stated.

He believes that this Zakat Forum can be the main driving component of transformation and collaboration in sustainable alms management and play an important role in realizing the welfare of the people and nation.

On the same occasion, Deputy of Religious Affairs Minister Saiful Rahmat Dasuki emphasized that the sustainability of alms programs requires support and collaboration with the community, especially alms institutions such as the Zakat Forum.

"This forum can accommodate various Indonesian alms institutions to support the government programs and ensure effective and consistent alms distribution," he remarked.

The Zakat Forum underscored Indonesia's commitment to developing alms as an economically and socially beneficial instrument for the wider community. With full support from the government, OPZ, and the private sector, alms is expected to play an important role in reducing social inequality and increasing shared prosperity.
