WSBP Inspiring Kindness: Girls on Site, Advocating Gender Equality in Manufacturing and Construction

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Waskita Beton Precast Tbk (ticker code: WSBP) has many precast plants spread throughout Indonesia. Not only as a place of production, Precast Plant WSBP is often a learning facility for high school / vocational students as well as students around Precast Plant WSBP. As a concrete form of realizing women empowerment, this year WSBP launched a new CSR program entitled “WSBP Inspiring Kindness: Girls on Site”.

This program is presented by Insan Srikandi WSBP and is devoted to inspiring high school / vocational high school students that women can have the same rights to contribute in various sectors including education, society, economy and politics, even in a career in Manufacturing and Construction Industry.

“This program is presented to raise the spirit and provide inspiration for generations of women who aspire to pursue careers in manufacturing and construction, not only as workers but also as leaders,” said Fandy Dewanto, VP of Corporate Secretary WSBP.

In this inaugural Girls on Site activity, WSBP invited students of SMK Negeri 1 Klari to see firsthand the production process at Precast Plant WSBP Karawang. SMK Negeri 1 Klari is located not far from Precast Plant WSBP Karawang and has a high interest in manufacturing companies so that it is in accordance with the purpose of holding WSBP Inspiring Kindness: Girls on Site activity.

A total of 25 female students of SMK Negeri 1 Klari were invited to understand the importance of career opportunities for women in the construction industry through the delivery of material and direct observation of the production process at Precast Plant WSBP Karawang, West Java. The students were invited to tour with Insan Srikandi WSBP to see firsthand the production process in the Rotary Workshop which produces Spun Pile, Non-twisting Workshop which produces PC-U Girder, and Stockyard where finished products are stored and ready to be shipped.

The girls were also invited to follow two presentations from Insan Srikandi WSBP at this inaugural Girls on Site event. The first was from Janette Anastasia, who inspired the girls with her work as a female Precast Plant WSBP Manager in Karawang, and how she leads her team in every production and operational process at Precast Plant WSBP Karawang. The second was Ermis Vera Iramutyn, as WSBP's Contract Administration Manager, who spoke about women empowerment and tips for success for career women at a young age. They also shared their experiences and motivated the girls to continue pursuing their dreams in the construction field, which is often dominated by men.

“This program is part of WSBP's commitment in supporting the achievement of two aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Quality Education (SDG 4) and Gender Equality (SDG 5). We hope this activity can inspire more girls to dare to pursue a career in construction,” said Fandy.

Through the CSR activity WSBP Inspiring Kindness: Girls on Site, WSBP is committed to continuing to organize activities that support women's empowerment and quality education, and make a real contribution to sustainable development.
