Using the naval ship KRI Teluk Weda 526, she transported aid in the form of crop seeds, agricultural equipment, sports and art supplies, school supplies, hygiene and medical kits, assistive devices, water tanks, boats, and solar-powered street lights, among others, to the island's residents.
Speaking on the ship on Wednesday, Rismaharini said that her ministry had also organized a number of activities for Kei Besar islanders, including cataract surgery, treatment for people with mental disorders, and leprosy examinations.
She added that the ministry plans to forge cooperation with the Ambon Public Polytechnic to enable the transfer of knowledge and the development of people's businesses.
Rismaharini emphasized that her presence on the remote island was also meant to convey a message about the dedication of government officials, especially those serving at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
"I am aware of the risks (sailing for hours), and I am not very strong myself," she said.
She also extended her appreciation to Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) personnel on board KRI Teluk Weda 526 for supporting the distribution of the government's assistance. Related news: Minister Rismaharini hands over 50 food carts to Tasikmalaya residents
