"We need to continue to pursue the development of green infrastructures in various cities in Indonesia," he remarked after inaugurating the revitalized Balekambang Park in Solo, Central Java, on Thursday.
To do so, Amin underscored the need for the central government to work synergistically with regional governments to devise synchronized plans.
Amin also drew attention to the importance of the government stepping up partnerships with private actors to accelerate the development of green infrastructures and properly manage and maintain them after being built.
"In principle, the government will continue to build places similar to this one in other regions. It is amazing to find a green open space covering 12.8 hectares of land in an urban region," he stated while referring to the Balekambang Park.
The vice president then lauded the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing for revitalizing Balekambang Park without inflicting any damage to the natural ecosystem the urban park hosts.
"Trees hundreds of years old are still well-preserved here," he underlined.
He also admitted to being delighted to learn that even after being revitalized, the park still retains its design that enables visitors to enjoy a picnic.
On the same occasion, Acting Central Java Governor Nana Sudjana stated that VP Amin's visit to the revitalized park had motivated his administration to make greater efforts to ensure the preservation of Central Java's cultural heritage.
He also expressed hope that residents would make the most of the park as a place for educational activities.
