Jakarta (ANTARA) - The task force for infrastructure development in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara is targeting to complete 36 ministerial landed houses at IKN by the end of this year.

"According to the contract, the completion may fall around October or November," head of the task force, Danis Sumadilaga, informed on Friday.

The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry has so far completed the construction of 14 of the 36 ministerial landed houses at IKN.

The14 ministerial homes consist of four units on Plot 104 and 10 units on Plot 105.

The 14 ministerial houses are ready to be occupied to support the Independence Day ceremony on August 17, 2024.

Two ministers from President Joko Widodo's administration — PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi — have taken over their houses.

Sumadilaga informed that the construction of ministerial residences at IKN is in keeping with the compact city concept.

The concept emphasizes a residential environment integrated with several principles, such as land efficiency, accessibility, and a sustainable lifestyle, he said.

The ministerial residences at IKN cover an area of around one thousand square meters, with a building area of around 500 square meters, and consist of two floors.

The ministry is also trying to optimize the use of existing land and minimize tree felling to preserve the environment.

There are two types of residential designs at IKN, namely the downslope type (11 units) and the upslope type (25 units).

The construction of the houses is being carried out in parallel with landscaping. Construction workers are also planting trees for greenery and arranging pedestrian paths around the construction site for residents' comfort.
