Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A joint search and rescue (SAR) team since Sunday has been searching for a boy who drowned in the Karang Mumus River in Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

"The incident happened at around 12 p.m. local time, and SAR received the report from a local at 12:20 p.m.," the team's coordinator, Riqi Effendi, said here on Sunday.

The boy drowned in the river, precisely at the Sungai Pinang Luar Village, Samarinda Kota Sub-district, 4.6 kilometers from the Samarinda SAR post.

The victim, 15 years old, was swimming with his friends at around 11:55 a.m.

At 12:05 p.m., the victim was washed away by the river streams.

Until now, the SAR team and the locals were searching for him with two methods, namely searching from the surface with inflatable boat and the second one with underwater searching devices.
