Badung (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy participates in facilitating South-South cooperation during the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (HLF-MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated in Badung on Monday that the government is striving to build cooperation with countries in Africa and is also open to cooperating with other developing countries.

"We are not only helping to amplify media communication but also being present to facilitate cooperation between South-South countries that are not only Africa," he remarked.

Uno highlighted that Indonesia's openness signifies its role in being present in the midst of a global situation replete with geopolitical challenges and decreasing multilateralism.

"At a time when multilateralism is declining, Indonesia is strengthening cooperation," he remarked.

At the HLF-MSP and the 2nd IAF events, several bilateral meetings and discussion panels became a forum for the ministry to build cooperation with South-South countries.

Uno affirmed that the issue of inclusivity is the main topic related to the creative economy that will be raised, while for tourism, he brought up the issue of quality and sustainable tourism.

The minister remarked that Indonesia is currently viewed as a country with the potential to grow, not only from the creative economy sector but also from investment and trade.

Seeing the potential and the growth of South-South trade and investment that exceeds the North, Indonesia, with a vision and mission towards realizing Golden Indonesia 2045, is striving to encourage a strategic role in South-South cooperation.

During the visit to the MSME exhibition at the HLF-MSP and the 2nd IAF event area, Uno called for local products to be marketed to those countries.

According to Uno, this is an opportunity that received recognition during a discussion with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN agency responsible for handling trade and development issues.

"I saw that there were many opportunities, and it was affirmed by the discussion we had with UNCTAD, (with) the hope that Indonesia will host the 2025 UNCTAD general assembly, which will be followed up by the next government," the minister stated.
