"(They will meet) as soon as possible. God willing, there will be a meeting," she told reporters in Jakarta on Saturday.
However, Maharani, currently serving as speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), noted that the exact date for the meeting had yet to be decided.
"We are still waiting for the most suitable date," she said, implying that the meeting might take place before Prabowo's presidential inauguration on October 20.
Megawati's daughter then explained that the expected meeting between her mother and the next president would serve as a momentum for them to build synergy for the sake of the country and the nation.
She dismissed a rumor about the meeting to be held after Prabowo's inauguration as the eighth president of Indonesia.
"Who said that? Where does this info come from?" she asked journalists.
Earlier, Gerindra Party Secretary-General Ahmad Muzani revealed that Prabowo and Megawati would hold a meeting before October 20.
"God willing, it (the meeting) will take place before the (presidential) inauguration," he told the media at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on September 9.
The deputy speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) also stated that Prabowo and Megawati had exchanged greetings before.
"Earlier, Madam Mega sent her respectful greetings to Mr. Prabowo, who then respectfully greeted her," he stated.
However, Muzani responds briefly to questions on the actual meaning behind the reciprocal greetings.
The greetings reflected the mutual respect and hope of the two leaders, he stated.
