Jakarta (ANTARA) - Students can now explore the values of Pancasila not only through texts but also through literature or films in the Pancasila Student Character Strengthening Program (P5), the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry stated.

"For the last five years, the ministry has presented the P5 to ensure that students are able to appreciate the values of Pancasila," Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim stated here on Tuesday.

As monitored via a YouTube broadcast channel, the minister explained that teachers can use various types of teaching tools, such as literature, film, and other art and cultural works, to teach students about Pancasila values.

He conveyed this during the commemoration of Pancasila Sanctity Day, which falls on October 1 every year.

He explained that students and teachers can now be more creative in exploring Pancasila values through relevant and current issues that are close to daily life.

"Nowadays, students in Indonesia do not only study Pancasila through textual learning but also practice it directly in the field," Minister Makarim remarked.

"Teachers can design learning based on issues that are of young people's concern, such as the environment, social problems, natural disasters, and various other relevant issues," he added.

He affirmed that Pancasila is an irreplaceable philosophy and the foundation and life of the Indonesian nation and country.

"Since the proclamation of independence, (the philosophy of) Pancasila has been proven to be able to go through various turbulences of the times, pass through major changes, and be inherited from generation to generation," he noted.

He emphasized that Indonesians must not only memorize the principles of Pancasila but also practice them in daily life.
