Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that the program is part of the transformation of current social services to be carried out by the new government under the leadership of President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
"The state will be present to give social protection from birth to the end of life, aiming to build sustainable community welfare," he remarked while handing over social assistance in Ambon, Maluku, on Thursday.
He remarked that the president-elect shares a vision of lifelong social security, meaning that the government will always support, accompany, and facilitate the needs of every Indonesian family without interruption.
This support is also carried out by his ministry in the provision of counseling in social relations to prospective brides and grooms, ensuring adequate nutrition for pregnant mothers, and fulfilling the needs of toddlers.
"When toddlers reach adolescence, adulthood, old age, until the end of their life, it will also become the government's concern, including this ministry," he remarked.
As part of the program, the ministry assisted the poor and vulnerable community in Ambon, with a total value of over Rp29.884 billion (US$1.9 million).
Yusuf outlined that the assistance is provided to beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (PKH), basic food assistance, orphan assistance, and assistance for heirs of disaster victims.
The other forms comprise assistance worth Rp362.7 million (US$23 thousand) for social service, which includes Social Rehabilitation Assistance in the form of nutrition to 121 beneficiaries, including ex-narcotics and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA).
Also offered is assistance for people with disabilities in the form of five three-legged canes, four cerebral palsy (CP) wheelchairs, nine regular wheelchairs, five crutches, four blind canes, and three walkers.
"We are completing the previous work. It will apply to all regions in Indonesia. I hope every Indonesian family will produce a useful generation for the nation," the minister remarked.
