Jakarta (ANTARA) - President-elect Prabowo Subianto expressed readiness to meet with judges to discuss their welfare fulfillment after being officially inaugurated as president of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20.

"When that time comes, I ask for your time to meet face-to-face and talk directly with you," Prabowo stated through a voice call as was audible during the hearing between the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Indonesian Judges Solidarity (SHI) at the parliament complex here on Tuesday.

On that occasion, Prabowo admitted hearing the judges' aspirations for improving their prosperity from Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

"I was surprised to hear your condition. However, I have planned on how to improve your condition," he stated.

Prabowo said that he has long paid attention to the welfare of judges.

He strongly believes that the key to a developed and corruption-free country is judges who cannot be bribed.

"In my opinion, our judiciary must be strong. You can check my past opinions in my speeches and my various writings. You can study the track record of my sayings," he emphasized.

Hence, Prabowo called on the judges to be patient about waiting for a discussion with him until his inauguration as president of Indonesia later.

"Judges must not be bribed or given gifts. Judges must be respected, get attention from the state, and have sufficient income so they have high self-esteem, and they do not need to look for extra (income). That is my determination and belief," he stressed.
