Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Armed Forces (TNI) will deploy army, air force, and navy personnel to provide security during the inauguration of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the new president and vice president on October 20.

Major General Hariyanto, head of the TNI's Information Center, stated that the personnel will be dispatched to carry out various tasks such as supervision, patrols, and VVIP/VIP security.

He noted that the TNI has developed comprehensive security plans to ensure the inauguration's success, and it will collaborate with the National Police (Polri).

"The plans include securing the area surrounding the inauguration venue, controlling traffic, and managing public access," he explained.

Hariyanto also mentioned that the TNI has prepared measures to anticipate a variety of possible threats and disruptions, including heightened supervision at vulnerable points.

"With these preparatory steps, the TNI is committed to maintaining security and order during the inauguration of the president and vice president," he added.

He appealed to the public to help make the inauguration successful by refraining from actions that could undermine security and stability.

"We encourage all citizens to remain calm and act prudently," he said. "Let us all work together to maintain a conducive and secure environment during the inauguration."

Prabowo and Gibran will take their oaths of office for the 2024–2029 executive term at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta at 10 a.m. local time on October 20.

On Wednesday, Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), told reporters that presidential and vice presidential candidates, as well as leaders of all political parties who contested the 2024 general elections, will be invited to the event.

He added that former presidents, vice presidents, and leaders of friendly countries will also attend the inauguration.

Similar to previous editions, the inauguration will involve a series of sessions, including the opening, reading of the General Election Commission's (KPU's) decree, the inauguration process, reading of minutes, the new president's speech, and closing.
