Jakarta (ANTARA) - Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono emphasized that the Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) teams and the integrated health service post (posyandu) cadres have a key role in improving the quality of public health.

"The two can synergize with each other to implement six standard service areas, namely education, health, public works, housing, public order, and social protection," Hartono remarked here on Saturday.

Speaking at the release of the fun walk event among PKK and posyandu cadres in Ancol, North Jakarta, Hartono affirmed that by synergizing efforts, both parties can support the improvement of public health.

Some 14 thousand participants attended this leisurely walk event. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, General Chair of PKK Tri, and Acting Chair of the Jakarta PKK Mobilization Team Mirdiyanti also partook in the event.

Meanwhile, Hartono affirmed that the improvement of posyandu's function and performance is inseparable from the intervention measures carried out by the PKK cadres.

The function of posyandu is to provide basic health services to mothers, babies, and toddlers while the PKK plays an important role in organizing posyandu activities in villages and other rural areas.

Hence, the PKK and posyandu must work together to improve the community's quality of life by providing more effective and efficient health services.

"PKK and posyandu have important roles in supporting government programs so that the community can directly feel the benefits," Hartono remarked.

Meanwhile, Tri, the general chair of PKK, admitted sensing pride in witnessing the level of enthusiasm among all cadres in carrying out their duties for public health and prosperity.

"Hopefully, the collaboration will continue, not only in activities like this but also in bigger activities, for the (sake of the) community and (for ensuring) the success of government programs," she remarked.
