"Cases of violence must be handled seriously for the sake of the children's better future,"
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, has urged parents and the community to be more vigilant in protecting children from potential violence in their surrounding environment.

"Parents and the public should be more aware of violence threats and not hesitate to report any violence. The role of the family and the environment is crucial in protecting children from violence," Minister Puspayoga emphasized, according to a statement released by her ministry here on Monday.

She made the remarks while visiting child victims of violence in South Sulawesi.

She met one child victim of sexual violence and two children who witnessed physical violence during the visit.

According to the minister, the visit was part of the government's efforts to ensure that child victims receive proper protection and treatment.

Minister Puspayoga interacted with the children and provided them moral support. She also underlined the importance of psychological assistance and rehabilitation for victims.

She said that the victims are currently receiving both psychological and legal assistance from the South Sulawesi Women and Children Protection Technical Implementation Unit (UPT PPA).

"We have coordinated with relevant agencies to handle the recovery of the victims' psychological condition and also related to the law enforcement," she informed.

Victims of sexual violence, especially children, need comprehensive protection and maximum support from various parties, she said.

"So that they can recover physically, mentally, and emotionally, and can continue their lives with a sense of security and without prolonged trauma," she explained.

She also assured that the government is continuing to monitor the development of violence cases against children and providing assistance to child witnesses in physical violence cases.

"Cases of violence must be handled seriously for the sake of the children's better future," she said.
