This is because the ministry will only focus on culture and that means that cultural advancement would be one of its priority programs, he explained.
"This is very good for culture figures, for them to be at the forefront in promoting culture. The promotion of culture is not only about preserving something old but how to convert them to keep up with the times," Yusuf said.
So far, he pointed out, the government has two focuses related to culture: first, preserving culture, and second, promoting or advancing culture.
He said that when he served as deputy chair of the House's Commission X during the 2019–2024 period, his side encouraged the promotion of culture by reviving the endowment fund for culture.
The fund, which utilizes the government budget, is managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Between 2019 and 2024, the ministry has disbursed Rp5 trillion, or around USD322.5 million, through the endowment fund to develop and advance culture.
However, Yusuf said, efforts to support cultural progress must be continued and improved so that later Indonesian culture can become more popular.
"Hopefully, with the new government led by Mr. Prabowo, which has the Minister of Culture, we can further promote our culture so that it becomes popular in our own country," he added.
House member Syaiful Huda previously conveyed the possibility of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology being split into three ministries in Prabowo's government.
According to him, the ministry will be split into the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Culture.
