Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chair of the central executive board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Puan Maharani, said that her party strongly supports the government of President- and Vice President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"We solidly support the new government to build Indonesia in the future," she said here Wednesday, and, therefore, dismissed the issue of differences of opinion within the PDI-P regarding joining the Prabowo-Gibran Cabinet.

"PDI-P was solid," Maharani, who is also Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), said.

She added that "God willing," the PDI-P will join the Cabinet even though none of her party cadres met with Prabowo on October 14–15, 2024.

Earlier, as many as 49 figures were invited to meet Prabowo at his residence on Jalan Kertanegara in South Jakarta on Monday.

They were summoned to discuss ministerial positions and consisted of politicians, academics, as well as ministers from President Joko Widodo's government.

On Tuesday, around 59 deputy ministers and heads of agency candidates met with Prabowo at his residence.

They included renowned celebrity Raffi Ahmad; a member of the advisory board of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Giring Ganesha; retired badminton athlete Taufik Hidayat; and musician Yovie Widianto.
