In a webinar observed from Jakarta on Thursday, Head of the ministry's Human Resources Development and People Empowerment Agency, Luthfiyah Nurlaela, remarked that the next government led by Prabowo Subianto would also establish nutrition service units in all villages.
Nurlaela revealed that each unit is set to serve about three thousand targeted program beneficiaries, including schoolchildren, toddlers, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women.
On that note, Nurlaela believes that BUMDes and cooperatives could make the most of the program's implementation, seizing the opportunity to supply the food materials required by the nutritional service units or also manage such units.
Furthermore, the official highlighted that BUMDes could capitalize on the national program by serving as transporters of ingredients or meals as well as parties that manage waste.
She highlighted that the Villages PDTT Ministry is committed to guiding BUMDes in preparing for the promising roles to participate in making the Free Nutritious Meals program a success.
She emphasized that village-run enterprises should play an active role in the program rather than remaining mere spectators.
Earlier, on October 14, Head of the ministry's Development and Information Agency, Ivanovich Agusta, stated that his side is collaborating with various parties, including the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR) Ministry, to promote the roles of BUMDes in the program.
Agusta said his side and the ATR Ministry had established cooperation in data interoperability, which can facilitate BUMDes to acquire land certificates in case they prefer to manage a nutritional service unit.
"If later, BUMDes want to manage service units, then, of course, they will need land. They need land equipped with certificates or electronic ones," he remarked.
