"We hope President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran can realize vision, policies, and programs that benefit our people," MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani said during Prabowo and Gibran's inauguration ceremony.
The new president and vice president took the oath of office for the 2024–2029 term at an MPR plenary session, held at the Nusantara Building in Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Sunday.
Muzani asked Prabowo and Gibran to work together to create a more just, prosperous, and competitive Indonesia.
"Let us realize a more just, prosperous, and competitive Indonesia, where every level of society feels appreciated and involved. Together, we can make achievements for the progress of the nation," he said.
A total of 709 of the total 732 MPR members witnessed the inauguration on Sunday.
National figures, leaders of political parties, and representatives of friendly countries also joined the ceremony.
More than 30 countries sent their heads of state or ministers to attend the ceremony. These included Germany, Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Laos, Vietnam, Vanuatu, Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste, Serbia, and China.
On April 24, 2024, the General Election Commission (KPU) determined Prabowo and Gibran as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidate pair in the Presidential Election.
The pair secured 96,214,691 votes, or 58.59 percent of the total valid national votes, achieving at least 20 percent of the vote in each of Indonesia's 38 provinces.
