Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir met with Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi at the latter's office in Jakarta on Tuesday to build synergy in a bid to support the implementation of government priority programs.

Thohir revealed that he and Purwagandhi touched upon a range of strategic issues, such as food and energy self-sufficiency, logistics service improvements, development of transportation infrastructure, and preparatory measures to face Christmas and New Year holidays to stimulate economic growth.

"Regarding logistics matters, we tried to identify what steps (need) to be taken. Mr. transportation minister sought ways to use regulations as solutions," he told the media after the meeting.

The minister stated that the government would pay closer attention to developing integrated transportation infrastructures to drive growth in the tourism sector and the national economy, in general.

Thohir then highlighted that his office and the Ministry of Transportation had reached an agreement on cooperation in putting a lid on costs and dealing with squanders.

"We will surely take immediate action in case we find a corrupt act," he added.

Minister Purwagandhi, for his part, underlined that Thohir's visit to his office was the first in the era of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

He said that the meeting is a concrete step by the two ministries to forge synergy to support the implementation of government programs, as duly mandated by the head of state.

"Hopefully, we will be able to hold subsequent meetings, thereby eliminating barriers between our ministries in order to provide services to the public while achieving the goals and implementing the programs set by the president," he remarked.
