The ministry's policy analyst, Imam Gunawan, stated here on Tuesday that the education and entrepreneurship ecosystem has an important role in preparing Gen Zs in Papua to face the dynamic world.
"This is where the role of the government, society, and various elements is very important to create a supportive ecosystem," he remarked.
Gunawan deems it necessary for the government to make the most of the positive potential of young people in Papua and minimize negative factors that can harm them.
"For this reason, education based on character and entrepreneurship is necessary in providing a strong foundation," he emphasized.
It is important to present better learning opportunities, especially those relevant to the needs of the current job market.
He cited data that showed only about three percent of young Indonesians are entrepreneurs.
"The obstacles (in doing business) arise from various levels, including individuals, families, communities, and the education ecosystem itself," he pointed out.
According to Gunawan, while many young Papuans have entrepreneurial aspirations, they face barriers of confidence and business capital. He emphasized that creating a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem is crucial to overcome these challenges.
"One of the efforts in creating a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem is by planning entrepreneurship education programs, where it must empower local communities at the regional and village levels," Gunawan stated.
He also underscored the importance of integrating the relevant ministries' work in supporting youth development in Papua.
