The problem is that there are a handful of greedy individuals.
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto urged the people to acknowledge Indonesia's shortcomings in order to address them.

"We must dare to recognize our shortcomings. We must dare to confront the work that lies ahead. We must dare to acknowledge the things that are not right," he said in Denpasar, Bali, on Sunday.

Indonesia is, in fact, rich, he stated. However, the wealth it possesses has not been managed effectively or intelligently, which has led to many shortcomings.

"Sometimes, when we expose things that are not right, many people may not like it. However, I believe that only a few people oppose it—those who are already in a comfortable position," he noted.

Among the country's shortcomings, Prabowo highlighted the prevalence of corruption, which he deemed excessive.

He remarked that despite his intention to eradicate corruption, there remain many pessimistic views, as corruption has become normalized.

"Our country is prosperous. If we manage it well, everyone can thrive. The problem is that there are a handful of greedy individuals. This greed brings hardship to many people, and that is what I am determined to address as vigorously as possible," he emphasized.

According to him, the spirit of change should not only focus on improving existing systems but also on rectifying deficiencies while appreciating the achievements of previous leaders.

Prabowo cited the 7th Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, as an example of a leader who has made significant progress for the country; however, that does not imply his leadership is flawless.

"He is not someone who can solve problems instantly. All of our previous presidents have done good work, but we must acknowledge that there are still many shortcomings. Let's not create myths about any one person or group," Prabowo said.

Therefore, he promised to do his utmost to lead a clean government and address the shortcomings for a better Indonesia.
