"Our vision is to create a region where everyone can live in freedom, where their voices are heard, and where every individual is empowered to be able to reach their full potential," he said, according to an official statement released by his ministry on Tuesday.
He informed that the Indonesian government led by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is firmly dedicated to advancing human rights development.
This is reflected by the government making human rights the main foundation of its eight main missions called Asta Cita.
To reinforce the commitment to human rights development, Prabowo has established the Human Rights Ministry as an independent ministry.
"The first pillar of Asta Cita shows Indonesia's commitment to Pancasila, democracy, and human rights. This shows the government's seriousness to protect and advance the protection of human rights," he said.
Furthermore, Sipin explained that the establishment of the Human Rights Ministry is aimed at encouraging justice and equality in the country. The ministry, he said, also aims to expand Indonesia's contribution to efforts to advance human rights in Southeast Asia.
According to him, efforts to promote human rights are inseparable from the role and contribution of national human rights institutions, civil society organizations, and academicians.
He described the ASEAN Human Rights Dialogue as an important momentum to build collaboration and reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to using an inclusive and multi-stakeholder approach in human rights affairs.
