During the trip, Prabowo will attend the APEC Summit in Peru and the G20 Summit in Brazil, and make state visits to China, the United States, and England. He has also received invitations for visits from G7 countries.
"I cannot avoid these international invitations because they have strategic value and are related to our economic situation," he said at a plenary Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
He added that he had to accept those invitations because Indonesia must participate in negotiations at each forum.
According to the head of state, Indonesia needs to explore the existing potential and resolve crucial and strategic problems with these groups of countries, which can be considered as crucial economic blocs, for the sustainability of the Indonesian economy.
His overseas trip is expected to last at least half a month.
According to the provisions, while the President is abroad, the Vice President will carry out the duties of the government head.
At the plenary meeting on Wednesday, Prabowo asked Cabinet members to not hesitate to contact him via video call when he is overseas to discuss important matters.
"If you have conveyed the issue to the coordinating minister but still want to clarify it to me, do not hesitate to contact me. You can call me directly," he said.
He emphasized that as team leaders, the president and ministers are colleagues serving the people.
Therefore, he asked the ministers to leave protocol and feudal practices.
The plenary Cabinet meeting was the second such meeting since Prabowo was inaugurated as President of the Republic of Indonesia. The first Cabinet meeting was held on October 23, 2024, three days after his inauguration.
