BP Taskin Head Budiman Sudjatmiko presided over the meeting that was held in Jakarta on Friday. Apdesi Chairman Surta Wijaya and delegates from villages in various provinces across Indonesia attended the dialogue.
"This was our inaugural meeting with colleagues at Apdesi from various regions. The village delegates sought an audience with us, a new agency established by Mr. President Prabowo Subianto," Sudjatmiko remarked.
The official noted that the 2.5-hour dialogue touched upon several matters related to poverty alleviation, such as data on poverty rates, dissemination of the primary tasks and functions of BP Taskin, the agency's plan to conduct a field survey, and villages' role in poverty alleviation.
"We tried to harbor and listen to villages' aspirations. We plan to forward the inputs we received to the president and relevant ministers," he stressed.
He then remarked that Apdesi expected his agency to serve as a reliable partner to village leaders, absorbing their aspirations to help villages elevate the living standards of their residents.
Earlier, on October 22, Sudjatmiko vowed to drive BP Taskin to empower the poor to accelerate poverty alleviation in Indonesia.
"Poverty alleviation is not just giving money but also empowering our people through inclusive development, starting from the industrial sector and investment policies," he remarked after being inaugurated as the agency's head in Jakarta.
He highlighted that BP Taskin would focus on providing underprivileged people with direct economic assistance and increasing their capacity through training on managing cooperatives or mastering technologies.
