At the Dialogue Forum on Increasing MSMEs Dare to Innovate, Ready to Adapt Exports (MSMEs Can Export) at the Ministry of Trade's office in Jakarta, Friday, Susanto emphasized that these two focuses are part of the efforts to produce more MSMEs that are ready to become exporters.
"Our program is MSMEs Can Export, so we gather the MSME mentors and aggregators, seek cooperation together, identify the problems, and figure out what we need to do in the near future. Hence, our target is for these MSMEs to export as soon as possible," Susanto remarked.
The Indonesian government is targeting economic growth of eight percent by 2029. To achieve this, the Ministry of Trade aims for national exports to grow by 7.1 percent in 2025 and 9.6 percent in 2029, partly through the MSMEs Can Export initiative.
Budi also stressed the importance of opening market access for MSMEs. According to the minister, cooperation with the trade attaché and aggregators abroad can expand opportunities for Indonesian entrepreneurs to enter the export markets.
However, he pointed out that improving competitiveness is equally important.
"Competitiveness does not have to come from the product side but also from the management side. If the company does not know how to export and other aspects related to competitiveness, we will teach them everything," he noted.
Furthermore, the forum agreed to establish a regular communication forum to discuss the challenges and issues MSMEs face in exporting.
"Hence, this will be a monthly routine where our aggregators will facilitate business matching with MSME mentors. Hence, there will be representatives; for example, MSME mentors could be from banks or other organizations, and we will take turns later," he added.
