This effort is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's directive at the UN Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties (COP) 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
"Starting next week, I will gather relevant director generals to create a roadmap and strategic planning. The private sector and academics will also be involved in formulating it," he remarked in Baku on Thursday.
Antoni is optimistic that Prabowo's order through the President's Special Envoy, Hashim S. Djokohadikusumo, at the COP-29, which was stated in a national message before heads of state and envoys from several countries, would be implemented.
"Through the spirit of solidarity and cooperation, based on the president's direction, we can carry out reforestation in Indonesia," he stated.
On Tuesday (November 12), Djojohadikusumo remarked that President Prabowo is committed to continuing the agreement and efforts of the previous administration.
Indonesia has pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2060 or earlier while targeting to prevent the release of one billion tons of carbon dioxide.
Efforts are made by switching from fossil fuel-based development to renewable energy-based development, with an additional 75 percent of power generation capacity.
Affordable clean energy is also provided to accelerate growth, create more jobs, ensure food security, and eradicate poverty for the community's welfare while balancing growth, the environment, and sustainability.
Endeavors also encompass conducting reforestation in more than 12 million hectares of severely damaged forests, revitalizing degraded land to increase food production, protecting oceans for the welfare of the blue economy, and empowering local communities for climate resilience and quality environment-friendly jobs.
The international conference, themed "In Solidarity for a Green World," was held on November 11-22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
