Sidoarjo, E Java (ANTARA) - Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti stated that his ministry will cooperate with one of the largest Muslim organizations in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah, to support education service programs in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.

At the commemoration event of the 112th anniversary of Muhammadiyah here on Saturday, Mu'ti noted that he would coordinate with the community-based preaching institution of Muhammadiyah to recruit teachers to the programs.

"Muhammadiyah is the government's important partner in enlightening the nation," he remarked.

Mu'ti explained that the concept initiated by his ministry prioritizes the learning paradigm over schooling.

He said that if the government only builds schools in the 3T regions, it is considered less effective, considering the costs required are steep, and the continuity of the teaching and learning process is not optimal.

The minister emphasized that learning can be carried out anywhere and does not necessarily occur in schools.

Hence, the learning process can be done at home, in places of worship, and in other public places where communities in 3T regions carry out their activities.

The program's volunteer teachers are non-formal teaching staff who are not legally appointed through regulations, such as Quran teachers, preachers, and even activists in the 3T regions.

"What is most important is all children of the nation get education services for the intelligence and progress of the nation," he remarked.

Minister Mu'ti opened the commemoration of the 112th anniversary of Muhammadiyah at 1 Taman Muhammadiyah High School in Sidoarjo, East Java.

The event featured the distribution of 172 thousand packages of meals to students from 1,039 Muhammadiyah schools from primary to secondary levels and 1,731 kindergartens and early childhood education schools.
