Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto called for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict areas of Ukraine and Gaza, Palestine.

"We urge (for) an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and Gaza," Prabowo emphasized at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Monday (Nov 18).

The president stressed that geopolitical developments, especially the ongoing conflict, remain inseparable from global economic challenges.

Prabowo highlighted his support for countries in the southern region while urging all G20 members to take concrete steps in dealing with the current conflict in order to achieve peace and stability.

According to the president, peace and stability are the main requisites for overcoming global challenges such as poverty and hunger.

The head of state also urged G20 countries to strengthen multilateral efforts in resolving these conflicts.

"Only with peace and stability can we overcome poverty and hunger. We also urge G20 countries to use their collective strength to strengthen multilateral efforts on this issue," he noted.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied President Prabowo at the summit.
