Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs has said that the Indonesian government is committed to improving teachers' welfare so they can better educate the nation's next generation.

"The government specifically thanks the teachers, and will always make efforts to improve their welfare," Warsito, acting deputy for coordination of education quality improvement and religious moderation at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, said when contacted from Jakarta on Monday.

He made the statement in view of National Teachers' Day 2024.

According to him, education is a key instrument for every nation to handle challenges and achieve long-term goals, such as the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

"Education will always be a priority in efforts to advance the country, and for that reason, the theme of this year's National Teachers' Day is very appropriate, 'Great Teachers, Strong Indonesia,'" he said.

He emphasized the pivotal role of teachers as the main pillars in creating quality education, describing them as lights in the darkness.

"Teachers are the light of the nation, who brighten the nation's journey toward a better future," he added.

As a gesture of appreciation, the government expressed its deepest gratitude to all teachers in Indonesia for their tireless work in educating the nation.

He also expressed the hope that teachers will continue to remain dedicated to fostering a highly competitive education system, which would, in turn, lead Indonesia toward the great ideals of Golden Indonesia 2045.

"To teachers, you should also continue to improve your competence," Warsito said.
