"The president has instructed us to perfect the data in order to launch a single system of socioeconomic data," Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf remarked after a meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Thus far, the minister explained that state institutions have data systems on people's welfare, such as the Social Affairs Ministry's Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) and the Socioeconomic Registration (Regsosek) data of the National Development Planning Ministry.
He highlighted that the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture and state-run electricity company PLN also manage similar data systems of their own.
Yusuf then stated that Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has been tasked with consolidating the various data systems managed not only by central institutions but also by regional governments.
"It (the synchronization) is expected to be done by this December," he highlighted.
The minister explained that President Prabowo is determined to ensure that all state institutions utilize a single data system in their work to make it more convenient for the government to carry out programs, including those to address poverty.
He elaborated that such a data system would also be used to distribute subsidies and social assistance more accurately next year.
"We understand that every piece of data is dynamic in nature. Every day, we may see deaths, births, and people experiencing economic promotion or demotion in society. This is the very dynamic, (and) we will try to anticipate," he pointed out.
