Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono called on all countries to support the ASEAN's outlook in realizing transparent and inclusive cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Sugiono made the statement during a meeting of foreign ministers of G7 countries and their partner countries in the Indo-Pacific in Fiuggi, Italy.

"Indonesia hopes all countries respect and support ASEAN outlook to ensure and encourage transparent and inclusive cooperation in the region," he noted in an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He emphasized Indonesia's commitment to making ASEAN a driving force of regional collaboration as outlined in the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).

Sugiono noted that amid a world replete with challenges, the AOIP aims to create a conducive situation for peace, stability, and prosperity with mutually beneficial cooperation.

He commended the G7, which has supported and cooperated with ASEAN through various mechanisms.

The minister emphasized that Indonesia will continue to serve as a bridge builder between developed and developing countries. Indonesia continues to encourage membership in inclusive multilateral forums, strengthening multilateralism and coordination between regional and international organizations.

At the forum, Sugiono also conveyed the Indonesian government's commitment to improving the community's welfare and contributing positively to the Indo-Pacific region through sustainable and inclusive development.

Indonesia attended the G7 forum at the invitation of the Italian foreign affairs minister, who also invited other countries in the Indo-Pacific, such as the Philippines, India, and South Korea.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Sugiono held a bilateral meeting with the Ukrainian foreign affairs minister and the South Korean foreign affairs minister.

Across two distinct diplomatic exchanges, he dialogued with the Ukrainian foreign affairs minister regarding resolution strategies for the Russia-Ukraine conflict and conversed with the South Korean foreign affairs minister about expanding bilateral cooperation in several fields, including defense and workforce training.
