In a statement from his office on Thursday, Antoni said his side is keen to continue cooperation with Papuan indigenous people, especially in this region.
"We hope that the decree for approval of social forestry management can be beneficial for Papuan indigenous people in this region," he stated.
The minister said the support from his side regarding the approval of social forestry management can be beneficial for the welfare of the community and the future generation of Papua.
"We ensure that forestry matters by siding with the community will be followed up seriously," he emphasized.
Antoni said the decree for approval of social forestry management could help increase the productivity of the land in the future.
"We will support the welfare of the community in the forestry sector," he remarked.
The minister highlighted that the community can utilize the money generated from the forest utilization to cover their daily needs, such as education and health.
On November 23, Antoni visited the three sub-districts of Nimboran, Kemtuk, and West Sentani in Jayapura District to meet with the indigenous community.
He also visited a sago shop, conversed with forest farmer groups fostered by the Forestry Ministry, and handed over the decree for approval of social forestry management in Imsar Village, Nimboran Sub-district.
The minister also paid a visit to the river basin rehabilitation (DAS PPKH) of PT Freeport Indonesia fostered by the Forestry Ministry in Nambon Village and continued his activity with planting in Mamda Village, Kemtuk Sub-district.
He then visited an orchid nursery fostered by the Forestry Ministry and had a friendly gathering with the fostered community group in Dosay Village, West Sentani Sub-district.
